Diolinoir "Fût de Chêne" / AOC Valais

"Diolinoir is a cross between Rouge de Diolly and Pinot Noir. Among Diolinoir’s strengths are its intense color and abundant tannins. Aging in small oak barrels results in a full-bodied yet refined red wine.
Open and fruit-forward aromas of blue fruits such as blackberries and blueberries, accompanied by floral violet notes and subtle vanilla spice from the barrique. After some aeration, hints of coffee and black elderberry also emerge. On the palate, it is robustly structured, with concentrated, ripe, juicy fruit that immediately takes center stage. The ripe, soft tannins are superbly integrated thanks to aging in barriques. The finish is balanced with freshness, fruit, and spice, lingering long on the palate."
